As many of you know, April 8th is the deadline for Microsoft to end support for Windows XP. What does this mean? In a nutshell it means that issues that arise with the operating system will no longer be fixed after this date. It means that Microsoft will no longer provide updates/fixes for exploits that hackers find.
If you continue to use Windows XP after this date, you do it on your own risk. Do you want to risk your system going down with no fix coming? Do you want to risk taking down your work network? These are all potential outcomes after April 8th. It is also well documented over the last year, that hackers are saving their work for after this April date. Why waste a hack on Windows XP when Microsoft will fix it? Why not wait until you know there will be no more updates and your hack will cause the most damage?
So, what can you do? The best remedy is to upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. Windows 7 and 8.1 offer many advantages over Windows XP, including better security, most new programs are not written for XP anymore, and better networking, just to name a few.
